What is a clinical massage?

A Clinical massage is a targeted medical focused therapy designed to treat specific musculoskeletal issues, pain, and injuries addressing soft tissue dysfunction, rather than for general relaxation.

Using advanced anatomy and physiology knowledge to assess a client’s condition, identify the root cause of pain, and apply specialized techniques, such as deep tissue massage, myofascial    release, and trigger point therapy, to promote long term healing and function.

Key Characteristics

Targeted approach

Unlike spa massages, clinical massage is not a one-size fits all experience; it’s a personalized treatment plan for specific problems.

Clinical Reasoning

I use clinical reasoning and knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy to assess, diagnose, and treat soft tissue disorders.

What can I expect from a session?

Sessions begin with a thorough postural and range of motion assessment, followed by specific muscle tests to identify weaknesses or strains as well as discuss your medical history and lifestyle.

I use a range of advanced techniques to improve flexibility, reduce pain, and restore muscle function.

My goal is to identify and address the underlying cause of pain or dysfunction, not just the symptoms.

Why would I need a clinical massage rather than a relaxing massage?

Acute or chronic pain

Muscle strains or injuries

Musculoskeletal Dysfunctions

Improved mobility

Postural Analysis and muscle testing

A series of assessments are preformed to identify areas of concern.

Targeted Treatment

Specialised techniques are applied directly to the affected area to stimulate healing and pain reduction.

Reassessment and follow up appointments

The session may conclude with a reassessment to track progress and inform future treatment plans.
